According to an overall
sight, this may have seemed that, NGOs of Bangladesh have taken the sales agency
of human rights in Bangladesh. Everywhere the NGOs are raising voices against
corruption as well as a violation of human rights. But the real picture is a
little bit different. After reading the following experience if anybody says
that NGOs are really upholding the human rights I have nothing to say:
- NGOs are showing the same person in multiple positions of multiple donor projects, but they are paying the same salary for one position.
- NGOs have no overtime provision, but in maximum cases staffs have to work 10 to 12 hours a day. The staff have nothing to say as they have fear losing their job.
- Staff has to work under the supervision of any one of the relatives of the Executive Director or Project Director. In most of the cases, the qualification of the said supervisor is the relationship with the ED/PD/NGO Leader rather than his educational qualification. I have written details in another article at ‘SSC is equivalent to Masters Degree!’
- No worker or officer can avail the official vehicle if there is any appointment of respective ED/PD/NGO Leader. In that case the appointment may be personal.
- Above all, the NGOs are taking or utilizing the privilege of the unemployment problem of Bangladesh. The workers cannot say anything against any decision of the authority fearing the risk of firing from the job.
The above-mentioned picture
is in almost all of the NGOs in Bangladesh. The exception is there; that may not
exceed 2%. If anybody thinks that this article is from any kind of tendency to
humiliate the NGO sector of Bangladesh, please communicate with me. I will show a minimum 10 donor-based renowned NGOs of Bangladesh as well as 100 national NGOs
without any donor. Please note that challenge fee is BDT 25000/-
